Download the edited files

Editing in the translation editor changes the segments, not the finished document. When your team is done, Taia rebuilds the files from the edited segments so you get back the same format you uploaded, with the human corrections in it.

Prerequisites​

  • A project whose segments have been edited in the translation editor.

Steps​

  1. Open the project.

  2. Because the translation has changed since it was last built, the project shows a Translation Updated card instead of the usual download card.

  3. Click Download Updated Files.

Taia rebuilds each file from the current segments and gives you the result in the original format, with layout and formatting preserved.

What you get is always current​

The package is built at the moment you ask for it, not stored from an earlier run. It contains the latest saved translation for every language in the project, however many tasks and however many rounds of editing have gone into each one.

That is worth stating plainly, because it removes the usual worry: nothing in the download can be out of date relative to the work in the editor. There is no version to check and no timestamp to compare, which is why the folders don't carry one.

What is in the package​

  • More than one language, or more than one file — a ZIP with one folder per target language, each holding that language's translated files. Every file is named after your original with the language code appended, so Newsletter.docx translated into German arrives as de-DE/Newsletter_de-DE.docx.
  • A single file — you get that file directly, with no ZIP around it.

There is no per-language download and no language picker: the package is all-or-nothing. If you only need one language, take it out of the ZIP.

Download once, at the end​

Because every download rebuilds from the current state, the useful habit is to download when your reviewers are finished, not while they are still working. A download taken mid-review is correct for the moment you took it, but it will be missing whatever gets saved afterwards.

If someone does edit more after you have downloaded, the Translation Updated card comes back on the project. Click it again and you get the newer state. Downloading never locks the project or stops anyone editing.

If a file fails to rebuild​

The most common cause is a segment problem rather than a system fault, and the two usual culprits are:

  • An empty target segment. If a segment was cleared instead of translated, some formats cannot be rebuilt around the gap. Open the editor, filter for empty segments, and fill them in.
  • Broken formatting tags. If the tags that carry bold, links, or placeholders were removed or reordered, the document structure no longer matches. See review annotations (QA flags) — tag problems are flagged there.

Fix the segment and download again. If it still fails, contact support with the project name.
