Import an existing glossary (TBX / XLSX)
If you already have terminology in a spreadsheet or a TBX export from another tool, you can import it directly into Taia rather than entering terms one by one.
Prerequisites
- A glossary already exists in Taia. Don't have one? Create a glossary first.
- Your file is in one of the supported formats: TBX (standard terminology exchange) or XLSX (Excel spreadsheet).
Supported file formats
| Format | Notes |
|---|---|
| TBX (.tbx) | Standard format exported by CAT tools (Phrase, Memsource, memoQ, etc.) |
| XLSX (.xlsx) | Spreadsheet with one column per language; first row is the header |
Steps
- In the sidebar, click Glossaries and open the glossary you want to import into.
- Click the ⋮ (more actions) menu in the top-right corner and select Import from XLSX.
- Select your file and click Upload.
- Taia parses the file and shows a preview of the terms to be imported.
- Confirm the column mapping if prompted, then click Import.

Imported terms appear in the glossary list. Duplicate terms (same source text in the same language) are skipped.
XLSX column format
For XLSX imports, structure your spreadsheet like this:
| English (en) | German (de) | French (fr) |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | Dashboard | Tableau de bord |
| Workspace | Arbeitsbereich | Espace de travail |
The first row must contain language names or ISO codes. Taia matches them automatically.
